From 3 to 5 October Abbadia Isola will be the center of an international workshop, which sees its second edition. An initiative created by Traverso-Vighy and Light Collective.
The municipal administration in collaboration with the organizers has thought of events open to all: candlelight dinner and "In search of the dark" at the Monteriggioni Castle.
On Friday, October 4, starting from 7 p.m., the municipality of Monteriggioni is organizing a dark night to draw the attention on light pollution and on the importance of preserving the view of the starry sky.
At Monteriggioni Castle public lights will be turned off, the main square and streets will be lit with candles and in the restaurants of the village it will be possible to dine by candlelights.
“Looking for the dark”, a traveling theater show by and with Carlo Presotto and Paola Rossi, will also take place in Piazza Dante Alighieri at 9 p.m. (italian and english). The audience, equipped with immersive radio headsets, will be taken on a nighttime walk of about 20 minutes, discovering the importance of darkness in the lives of people, animals and plants.
The initiative is part of Going Dark, an international workshop taking place in Monteriggioni area on Oct. 3-5. The meeting, now in its second year, will involve professionals from around the world and will focus on the responsible use of outdoor lighting, especially of the one for historic sites.
