This itinerary begins at Villa Bichi Borghesi at Scorgiano, first built in the 17th century by the family of the same name. Near the borgo of Basciano, between the districts of Badesse and Quercegrossa, stands Villa Parisini (or Parigini), which today houses a number of associations and institutions. In the south-western part of the municipality stands S. Colomba, a borgo dominated by the magnificent Villa Petrucci, built between the 15th and 16th centuries, and probably designed by Baldassarre Peruzzi. Alongside stands the small Church of SS. Pietro e Paolo, with remains of 13th century frescoes: these are all that remains of the borgo’s medieval past. Heading back in the direction of Monteriggioni, along the SR 2 (the “Cassia”), an avenue of cypress trees leads to the elegant Villa di Stomennano. Just further on stands the so-called Posta. This began life in the 1800s as a staging post for horses, and was transformed into a villa in the 20th century, by the Griccioli family.
