Museum Friends 2010

The Monteriggioni Museum of Arms is taking part in the annual event promoted by Tuscany Regional Council, with the following activities:

For the event “A night at the museum”:
-May 15, from 9.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m.:
special opening of the Monteriggioni Museum of Arms with free admission (Piazza Roma 23 – Monteriggioni castle)
For the event “Via Francigena Road” (the museums along Via Francigena present local objects, places and works linked to the ancient road):
-weekends from May 1 to 16:
special openings of the Church of Saints Salvatore and Cirino in Abbadia a Isola. Opening hours
-May 15, 3.00 p.m.:
“Pilgrimage along the Francigena. Wayfarers, knights and pilgrims on the Medieval Road”, visit to Abbadia a Isola and walk along the Francigena road to Monteriggioni, full of characters in medieval costume. Free of charge. Programme

The Tuscany Regional Council has prepared a notebook listing activities and places of interest presented by the museums along the Francigena road that take part in the project. Until December 31st 2010 the museums will welcome visitors with a stamp on this notebook. Those who have visited at least ten museums will be sent a gift from a museum bookshop as an acknowledgement of their commitment to learn about the Via Francigena.
